Backhouse, the award-winning South West based housebuilder, has announced its sponsorship of Open Door’s Chat Café in Warminster which re-enforces the company’s commitment to supporting local initiatives.

The Chat Café opens its doors every Thursday morning to offer companionship, warmth, and solace to those in need. The café provides a welcoming environment where anyone feeling lonely or isolated can come to relax, engage in friendly conversations, and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and some scrumptious cake.

The sponsorship, by Backhouse, will help the café continue its mission of bringing people together to talk and fostering a sense of belonging, ultimately creating a more inclusive and caring community.

Backhouse’s sponsorship of the Chat Café aligns perfectly with its values of community engagement wherever it builds new developments. The company recognises the importance of addressing issues of loneliness and isolation, especially in today’s fast-paced world, and is dedicated to supporting local groups and clubs that work towards alleviating such concerns.

Marion Barton, the Chair of Open Door, commented: “Backhouse’s donation allows us to provide tea, coffee, cakes and biscuits for a year which is a fantastic contribution. These are the simple ingredients that help create and strengthen the bonds of empathy and kindness.

“Open Door Warminster has a simple ethos to provide a home-from-home environment for anyone feeling left out on the street because of loneliness, illness or grief. The Chat Cafe welcome begins at the door, where each visitor is greeted as warmly as a family member, whether it’s their first or fiftieth visit!

“Our amazing volunteers settle the guests with a hot drink and a biscuit and start the magic process of simply chatting and listening. A simple therapy that makes people feel heard, valued and that they matter.”

Ian Jones, Chief Executive Officer at Backhouse, expressed his enthusiasm for this charity sponsorship, commenting: “We are delighted to support Open Door’s Chat Café, where individuals can find solace and companionship, breaking free from feelings of loneliness and isolation. We see this as a small yet significant step towards building a stronger and more connected community.”
