‘We felt like we had won the jackpot!’ That’s how Jill and Jonathan Bower described the magic moment when they received the keys to their new home

The ‘almost’ retired couple, who reserved off plan to secure their favourite plot, were over the moon with their decision to buy at Backhouse’s Boreham Mead development, just outside Warminster.

Jill and Jonathan, who sold their house in Dorking, had their hearts set on a Backhouse home after an online search into the award-winning housebuilder. They then went to see another of the company’s developments in Castle Cary to get a feel for the finished development and the build quality. The couple didn’t mind where they lived but decided Boreham Mead ticked ‘all the boxes’ with its market town feel, proximity to Warminster and easy links to Bath.

The couple bought a Boat House which boasts a number of standout features including Backhouse’s signature design style, with high ceilings, large windows, an abundance of natural light, free-flowing flexible living space and attention to detail throughout.

Jill said: “The unique position is what attracted us to this Backhouse development. We were looking out of our kitchen window the other day and saw an otter in the river at the bottom of our garden! It’s lovely to see wildlife so close to the house. We did our research and knew all about the quality of the Backhouse build as well as the striking design features which make the properties stand out.”

Friends, family and new neighbours have all been to visit the couple recently. Over Christmas, they hosted 15 family members and 9 neighbours at separate gatherings.

Jill added: “We have a very large lounge and an amazing kitchen/diner so everyone wanted to visit and have a look at our new home. We’ve had some great comments and feedback. It was lovely having our neighbours over and now one of them is our dentist! It’s becoming a lovely community to live in.”

Backhouse worked closely with architects AHMM to create the development of 34 homes, which showcases Backhouse’s design and spacious practical layouts. Homes at Boreham Mead are arranged around a central village green ensuring each home benefits from the shared community space and many of the properties also back onto the River Wylye.

Sales and Marketing Director at Backhouse, Emily Adams, said: “We are delighted Jonathan and Jill have settled in so well. Customers are really impressed when they come and view our Boreham Mead development because they can see the attention to detail in the homes and the efforts we have made to embrace the local environment and landscape features.”

“We passionately believe in creating new communities which offer our buyers homes of outstanding design quality to meet the needs of their lifestyles and are also sympathetic to the location and existing environment,” added Emily. “Our development at Boreham Mead is certainly winning hearts and minds and attracting a lot of attention.”
