What’s behind the name: Callaway Gardens

Remembering the Callaway brothers.

We are always mindful of the sites we develop and the history and geography that they contain. Our new Westbury neighbourhood is located on the site of the former Westbury Hospital and we wanted to recognise the community and individuals that were present before.

Robert Callaway was an Officer who died during The Battle of the Somme and his brother John Callaway dedicated a wing in the old hospital in honour of his brother. It was important to us that the Callaway Brothers are part of our new development and therefore we chose the name, Callaway Gardens, to link past and present and give our site a sense of context and place.
